i went bowling today with japanese people. one man, Masa, and three women: Chiaki, Kikomo, and i cant remember the other one. but i signed up earlier to participate in a cultural thing that was that. i won and i got a prize but it was shoe cleaner and a shoe horn which was a nice gesture. i guess this is where the saying "its the thought that counts" comes into play. my team got 4th place and won a big Asahi gift set. for those that dont know what asahi is, its beer. after that i walked around trying to find a place called unko which served Okonomiyaki and i asked a mother and her ddaughter and they walked me the whole way. it was about 2 blocks. that is how hospitable they are. She showed me the place and i went in and sat down. they put lettuce, squid, crab, and prawn in it along with an egg to make it grill, and then gave me a small glass of barley tea, which was disgustiing ut i didnt want to offend them so i muscled it down then they got me another one. so i grabbed a pepsi and drank that most of the time. the tea cleaned out my system though. then i went to a department store in ginza that was 8 floors high and visited every floor talking to random people including salesclerks and normal people trying to see who would help. they all helped. so i got what i wanted. i used more japanese today than ever.
the people i played bowling with all wanted my information like cell phone number and email address so i traded info with all of them.

Ginza+Rogiq
today, i started off by getting a shot for typhoid which made me drowsy so after lunch i fell asleep for a good 2 hrs. soon after that i went to ginza (a big strip of shops and restaurants) and walked around gazing at all of the beautiful japanese women in short skirts and long boots, its a males fantasy. i went to eat at a place called gyuemon's. i got some steak pieces in some sauce. it was good. i went to a couple shops and looked around but didnt buy anthing until i went to a department mall that had a regular store on the second and third floor and a food market on the first floor. decided to buy some little things there including some little balls of honey bread that dissolve when you eat them, kakinotane which is rice crackers and peanuts that are a bit spicy, Pocky which are biscuit sticks dipped in chocolate and strawberry and other flavors. i went to find something i had last time i came to japan called Inarizushi which is not sushi, it is like rice wrapped in fried tofu. its hard to say what it is because i cant read the packaging. i couldnt find it so i employed the services of some japanese schoolgirls which were probably 15 or 16. you can tell by the length and color of their socks, the longer they are they older in school they are. they found where they would be but they were out. for a minute i thought they were running away from me, but they were going to find out. after that i went to a club that plays music. the owners son has a band and his band does cover songs of red hot chili peppers, oasis, nirvana, sublime and they did the song "Foxxy Lady", i dont know who sings it, but they did really well. they are really talented. they played a bunch of songs and then when they were nearly finished they introduced the members of the band and that member would play for a little bit, then the lead guitarist/singer and support guitarist/ backup vocals had a guitar battle in which they ended together playing the mario song, and then they played one more song. i left after that and had the chance to talk with "jackson" dont know his real name, in the elevator. i would give them an 8 out of 10 because some of the words they didnt get correctly in the songs. i went back to the ship after picking up some sheets and a pillow. and now i am typing this. i will try and update as much as possible, i just dont know how much internet access i will get when we are underway or how much free time.
